"Here, as in the previous article, it is not a question of philanthropy, but of law. Hospitality means the right of a foreigner not to be treated in a hostile manner merely because he has arrived in the territory of another".
The Art of Migration. Visitor's Rights
Immanuel Kant, On Perpetual Peace (1975)
Since 1994, we have been working in Alava to build a more inclusive and supportive society, supporting the socio-cultural and employment integration of migrants and people in vulnerable situations. We believe in respect, diversity and equal opportunities for all.
Our office is an open space for support and meeting, where we offer essential services such as food distribution, clothing, educational programmes and accompaniment in integration processes. Through solidarity and cooperation, we continue to strengthen support networks and promote the integral development of our community.
Together, we build a fairer and more equitable future.
The association has actively worked in different programmes to strengthen integration, social support and solidarity. Through the accompaniment of families, attention to people in vulnerable situations and the promotion of volunteering, a significant impact has been achieved in the community. These initiatives have improved the quality of life of many people, fostered social participation and strengthened ties between different groups, promoting a more inclusive and supportive environment.
As part of Intercultural Week, the African American Residents Association has organised various activities to promote expression and reflection on diversity and migration. Through the International Short Story Competitionthe Mobile Photography Competition and the Mobile Phone Photography WorkshopWe seek to generate spaces for dialogue and creativity that help us to make visible realities and experiences that are often forgotten.
Each of these initiatives offers a unique opportunity to share stories, share perspectives and strengthen coexistence. Find out more about each activity and get involved!
